Hello Florida BMX riders,

August 1st started our Summer Series for 2007.  This season brings some changes in the way we combine and award points for your races.  After many years, the NBL has come through with a new windows based race program which promises to be easier to use for the clerk of course.  The SSA board listened to your concerns about the changes that were made last year and we tried to improve things for this upcoming season.  We are going to have two riders make a class instead of three as well as going back to the local rules for combining.  This should correct the problem we were having of combining very young riders with much older riders.  We are also putting more emphasis on the points earned in the motos and not having the bulk of the points earned for a race come fom the main points.  We are still going to have a main for all classes and we will not drop any riders from the mains in classes that are less than 8 riders.  If there are more than 8 riders in a class, there will be riders dropped until 8 riders qualify for the main.  Below is the points structure that we are using for the classes -

For the Summer Series, we are using your best 8 races for points.  This means any combination of local single point races, double and triple points races.  Your best chance for getting the maximum points you can earn will be to attend the multiple point races during the Summer Series in addition to local races.

For the 2008 State Season, local points start on November 1 and the first qualifier will be held in conjunction with the Summer Series Championship on the weekend of November 10-11, 2007 in Daytona.  Points used for the 2008 State Season series will be a rider's best 8 local races and their best 3 qualifiers as it has been for the past few years.  The maximum points a rider can earn for the 2008 State Season will be:

Rookie:  1890
Novice/Girl/Cruiser:  2450
Expert:  3010
